For the second consecutive week, BYU quarterback Tanner Mangum heaved a Hail Mary pass into the end zone to give the Cougars an upset win, this time against No. 20 Boise State.

The Cougars sealed the contest with a pick-six as time expired to complete the 35-24 victory. The win marked just the second for the Cougars in the six times the two teams have played. The last came in 2013.
Boise State struggled on offense all night. Even though quarterback Ryan Finley completed 25 of 38 passes for 297 yards, he threw three interceptions. And the Boise State running game, which has always been one of the main parts of its offense, rushed for just 64 yards.Mangum, who was making his first start after former starting quarterback Taysom Hill suffered a season-ending foot injury last week, completed 17 of 28 passes for two touchdowns and two interceptions. His last touchdown pass came on fourth-and-7 from the Boise State 35 when he somehow found Mitch Juergens, who was double-covered in the end zone.

A week ago, Mangum, who had come on in relief of Hill, threw a 42-yard Hail Mary as time expired and found Mitch Matthews in the end zone to beat Nebraska.

Boise State’s loss means the Mountain West Conference went 0-10 against out-of-conference opponents on Saturday.
