Be A Leader, Not Just The Boss

I hesitated to take on this topic. I’m not a fan of the word “boss” and, more to the point, I’m not sure how relevant the idea of “being the boss” is as everything around us changes so quickly. I would argue that our world doesn’t need more bosses, but it certainly needs more leaders.

QBFG's NFL QB-of-the-Week goes to New Orlean's Drew Brees. In a shoout-out with the Giants Eli Manning, Brees completed 39 of 50 for 505 yds, 7 TD's/2 int's (long 53 yds.) The two field generals combined for 13 TD passes and 855 yds. passing, but Brees hit C.J Spiller on a 9 yd. pass for a TD, to tie the game up 49-49. The Saints stopped the Giants offense on a 4th down attempt, then kicked the game winning FG to win 52-49.

WEEK 9; NCAA QB-of-the-Week

QBFG's NCAA QB-of-the-Week goes to Oregon's Vernon Adams Jr. The EWU transfer completed 23/40 against Arizona State for 315 yds, 4 TD's/1 int. (long 46 yds.). Adams rallied the Ducks late in the 4th qtr. to tie the game 41-41 and send the game into OT. In the 3rd OT, Adams hooked up with Bralon Addison for a 20 yd. TD pass, to put the Ducks up 61-55 final score.

QBFG's WIAA Prep QB-of-the-Week goes to Orcas Island H.S junior QB Miles Harlow. Harlow completed 16/27 for 299 yards, 5 TD's/0 int's. (Long 50 yds.). Harlow led the Vikings to a 49-7 win over the Trojans of Manson H.S, to give them a 6-3 record.

QBFG's NFL QB-of-the-Week goes to Washington's Kirk Cousins. Cousins has struggled this season, but did enough to help the Redskins pull off the W, beating Tampa Bay 31-30. Cousins completed 33 of 440 for 317 yds, 3 TD's/0 int's (long 38 yds.)

WEEK 8; NCAA QB-of-the-Week

QBFG's NCAA QB-of-the-Week, for a second consecutive week, goes to WSU's Luke Falk. Falk put up the best numbers in week 8 by completing 47/62 for 514 yds, 5 TD's/0 int's (long 43 yds.). As he did with OSU last week, Falk had his way with the Arizona defense and handed the Wildcats its 3rd loss in PAC-12 play beating them 45-42.

QBFG's WIAA Prep QB-of-the-Week goes out to eastern WA, to Liberty Christian H.S senior QB, John Lesser. Lesser racked up an astounding 621 all-purpose yds. completing 9/15 for 219 yards passing, 4 TD's/1 int. (Long 46 yds.). Rushing for 402 yds. on 22 carries and 5 TD's. Lesser led his Patriots to a 84-30 win over the Colton Wildcats.

Interlake Seniors Honor Fallen Football Brother

The seniors on the Interlake H.S football team, made a classy decision to dedicate their "Senior Night" game against Bellevue, to the memory of the late Kenny Bui of Evergreen High School. Kenny recently passed away as a result of a brain trauma injury sustained during a football game (see article). Thoughts and prayers remain with the Bui family, and the Evergreen football family.

QBFG's NFL QB-of-the-Week goes to Detroit's Matthew Stafford. Stafford had his way with the Chicago defense by throwing 27 of 42 for 405 yds, 4 TD's/1 int. (long 57 yds.), as the Lions handed the Bears its fourth loss by a score of 37-34.

QBFG's NCAA QB-of-the-Week goes to sophomore quarterback Luke Falk of Washington State University. Falk picked apart the Oregon state defense by completing 39/50 for 407 yds, 6 TD's/2 int's (long 28 yds.). The Cougars kept the Beavers winless in PAC-12 play beating them 52-31.

QBFG's WIAA Prep QB-of-the-Week, for an unprecedented third time in a season, goes to Willie Patterson. Patterson continues to produce at a amazingly high level, completing 22/36 for 296 yards, 4 TD's/3 int's (Long 60 yds.). He also rushed 80 yds. on 14 carries. Patterson led his team to the Steilacoom 23 yd. line, down a point in the 4th quarter, to set up the game winning touchdown. The Cardinals beat the Sentinels 42-40.

QBFG's NFL QB-of-the-Week goes to NY Giants Eli Manning. Manning was also named the NFC Player-of-the-Week for week 5. Eli completed 41/54 for 441 yds, 3 TD's/1 int's (long 49 yds.), as the Giants handed San Francisco its 4th straight loss on Sunday Night Football 30-27.

QBFG's NCAA QB-of-the-Week goes to Texas Tech sophomore Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes was on point against Iowa state completing 33/46 for 428 yds, 5 TD's/0 int's (long 75 yds.). The Red Raiders dominated Cyclones and handed them their third loss by beating them 66-31.

QBFG's WIAA Prep QB-of-the-Week goes to Auburn Mountainview senior quarterback Gresch Jensen.. Jensen completed 26/46 for 388 yards, 5 TD's/2 int's (Long 92 yds.). He also rushed 55 yds. on 13 carries. Gresch led his team, down 42-40 in the 4th quarter, to score the game winning TD. The Lions improve to 5-1 with their 46-42 win over Lakewood.

Patterson shattered his previous week stats by completing 15/29 for 455 yards, 6 TD's/0 int's. He also rushed 74 yds. on 9 carries, as Franklin-Pierce gave up 37 pts. to Orting, but was still able to secure their 2nd consecutive win 42-37.

QBFG's NCAA QB-of-the-Week goes to Western Kentucky's Brandon Doughty. Doughty was impressive as he torched the Redhawks defense by completing 33 of 41 attempts for 457 yds, 6 TD's/0 int's (long 59 yds.). The Hilltoppers topped Miami of Ohio 56-14.

QBFG's Prep QB-of-the-Week goes to Franklin-Pierce junior quarterback, Willie Patterson. Patterson was on fire Friday night as completed 14/20 for 288 yards, 5 TD's/0 int's. He also rushed 107 yds. on 13 carries and 1 TD, as the Cardinals handed the White River Hornets its 4th straight loss 62-48.
